Aris Leon Lapa Pereira (he/him) is a cross-disciplinary performance researcher who searches for the edges within the performative life. Being deeply immersed in the Artistic Research landscape, the philosophical reflection always resonates with his personal practice. Merging mechanical/technical knowledge with performative elements let him explore multiple disciplines with enthusiasm.
Currently orbiting around the de-romanticisation of nature, he researches the Rights of Nature, more precisely into the rights of water, in collaboration with the Embassy of the North Sea. Here he established the Confluence of European Water Bodies, which is a growing group of activist organisations that help him research intercultural behaviours and intimate relationships to water. Next to his he is a curator at the Instrument Inventors Initiative and Co-founder of the WASTELAND festival, where he orchestrates research and staging in an ecological way. Co-creation and collaboration are very important word, which do not only function on a professional but also sociological way; which are in-depth research in his Resonant Bodies Residencies and Micro-solidarity retreats.
In Leon’s perspective, co-living is a practice we are slowly losing in this poly-crisis and has to be practised. Therefore, he is in a constant search for methods and tools to generate an honest and careful environment.
